Listening to Modest Mouse was the reason i kept myself alive during those angsty teen years. If they were putting out this shit 10 years ago i would have killed myself. new albums are so self masabatory souless big label horse shit

modest mouse, i had a crush on a girl in 7th grade, her name was verseli. her older brother was chance, she turned me onto you, and then i went to see you in 8th gradewith the shins. my friends mom got too drunk so we never got to see anyone play, but the shins gave us snap bracelets.

when i was 17 my rich aunt payed for me to do a semester up the atlantic, and go sea kayaking in newfoundland. my moms maiden name is ericson..

we ended up hiting a whale we were studing while underway at night.

it wasnt any whale. it was a right whale. i was holding the helm. it was bow watches fault, but i was 2degrees offcourse. so it was mine too, although the crew said we were on a coalision course.

regardless, ive never felt that feeling, it was like the ship vibrated, and i felt this feeling of empending doom, but it was closer to an alien envoking fear with witchcraft.

have you heard that blue whales can sing across the ocean? or how sperm whales sing in clicks? it must be a very powerful vibration they send out, and unfortunatly i felt its wrath.

i bought a shirt at that show, the one with the sperm whale eating the squid, and then i finally held a piece of scrimshaw in my hand.

it felt like a demonic idol. i thought i would like it, but we hit the whale before i got to hold it.

its fucked, maybe im manic and its nothing.

regardless, thank you so much for the music, its done so much for me.

I cant even begin to to explain how brilliant and deep Modest Mouse, and unlike most modern music it has meaning. I’m probably the only kid in my school who listens to Modest Mouse and not mainstream, meaningless crap. And I can play lots of there songs on guitar. Modest Mouse forever!

P.S. Anybody got a album the recommend by Modest Mouse, I want a new one and already have No ones first and your next and The moon and antarctica. Preferably some of there older stuff.

    Thanks

You my friends have really helped me over the years with your music. The Whale song is one of favorites.
I really enjoy all of your albums. Dramamine and The ocean breathes Salty really do express a lot of emotion to me and for me. I love you.

Why do half these comments make no sense?
“By far my favorite song since Moon & Antarctica.”?????
“I’m probably the only kid in my school who listens to Modest Mouse and not mainstream, meaningless crap”
Congratulations, you have just made yourself sound like a total hipster douche.
“Listening to Modest Mouse was the reason i kept myself alive during those angsty teen years. If they were putting out this shit 10 years ago i would have killed myself. new albums are so self masabatory souless big label horse shit”
I hate it when people say new modest mouse is crap and old modest mouse is the greatest thing ever. I love both, and i think people that honestly loved what modest mouse made in the past, would appreciate their newer material. Any modest mouse is great modest mouse,Just my opinion though.

Anywayth, Modeth Mouthe = My Favoritesth Band Ever.
